Stockpile Donations

When people hear the word stockpile, they tend to get an image from the Extreme Couponing show on TLC or think about the show, Hoarders.  Well, my house isn't large enough to have a massive stockpile, nor do we need one that large.  A positive aspect to couponing is that once you get your family situated with products, you can then give back to your community.  Today I donated 20 packages of Carefree pantyliners to the local middle school along with some laundry detergent.  These items I know will go to good use because the Youth Service Center will have to wash student's clothes (for many different reasons) or girls are unprepared for the start of womanhood or just don't have the supplies with them at school.  Then I donated the Adam's pet collars to people who mentioned they had small animals.  In no way did I accept money in return for the items I got for free.  If you hang onto your receipts, you might be able to add these in the "donations" category during tax season. (Please speak with your tax agent for the legalities of this one-varies from state to state).  Along with these types of donations, I donate sacks of goodies to families on the side...not to an organization.  If there is a family in need, I will give them toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent and razors.  Most of those items I got for free or nearly free.  The good Lord has helped me become this thrifty couponer, and helping others is the Christian thing to do.  My question to you is, when do you donate (or plan to)?  What do you donate?  How often do you donate?  Please notice that the quantity I donate is not near the quantity on the TLC show, but any donation-no matter the size- can still help the community.

I really enjoyed this article. It is such a blessing to be able to help others in this way. I am a college student, so I do not have a family to provide for, and I am now at the point where my stockpile is enough for myself for a few months. I hope I get the opportunity to donate items soon! Keep up the good work! God bless!

I do the same with pet food/supplies as well. I pick up any pet items that are free or a really good deal and donate to my local animal rescue. They are always in desperate need of supplies. If you don't want to purchase those items consider donating any pet coupons to them.

I donate to a local school. My unit has adopted this school because of the military kids that go there. I love the days I get to volunteer for my duty day. The teachers are always in need of school items. I have been looking for the best deals on school items. My husband thinks I am crazy for having 15 pairs of school scissors that I got for free. I am looking forward to taking these free or nearly free items I get to the school. (My kids are in college so I do not need these)
Another way I donate is I live on Post and in my neighborhood families are always coming and going. I have had 6 new neighbors in the last 5 months..So I put a welcome package together. Toilet paper, Paper Towels, Toothbrush and toothpaste. Laundry soap, dish soap and cleaners if I have them along with a broom and dustpan. (I wait for the BOGO on the brooms) maybe some drinks and snacks..I love doing it it shows that We stand together and I know how hard it is to move...
